Феномен художнього дерева, як найдавнішого творчо освоєного людиною природного матеріалу, полягає у широкому його вжитку в більшості сфер буття сучасного соціуму. Особливою художньою естетикою відзначаються дерев’яні вироби, які призначені для використання священнослужителями та громадою у храмі. У науковому виданні уведено в обіг досі недосліджені та неопубліковані зразки профілювання, різьблення, художнього опорядження внутрішнього простору церков, які автор нагромадив у ході експедиційних досліджень упродовж 1995–2016 рр. на території західних областей України. У монографії визначено художні особливості дерев’яних виробів упродовж процесів еволюції і транспозиції декору у системі обладнання інтер’єру церков, розглянуто технологічні прийоми народного й професійного різьбярства, важливі в орнаментально-площинному оздобленні та фігуративній пластиці; розроблено власну типологію профільованих, різьблених, інкрустованих, поліхромних стаціонарних конструкцій і меблів західноукраїнських церков. Книга пропонується науковцям, художникам, священникам, майстрам, студентам, краєзнавцям і шанувальникам української культури.

Wooden sacred artefacts (as based on Ukraine's western regions) The artistic application of wood as the oldest material creatively acquired by humans is widespread in most spheres of modern society. Special artistic aesthetics is a prominent identifying feature of wooden artefacts, intended for use by clergy and public in church. This academic publication introduces to wide public attention numerous unstudied and unknown samples of profiling, carving, as well as the artistic decoration of the interior of churches, which the author accumulated during expeditions in 1995-2016 across the western regions of Ukraine. The monograph presents the artistic features of wooden artefacts during the evolution and transposition of decor in the system of the interior design of churches. The author explores the techniques of folk and professional carving, which are important in the decoration of ornamental space and in figure plasticity. He has elaborated his own typology of profiled, carved, inlaid, polychromatic stationary structures and furniture in Western Ukrainian churches. The book is oriented at researchers, artists, priests, craftspeople, students, local historians and admirers of Ukrainian culture.
