Пропонуються відповіді на запитання щодо основних понять, які необхідні для наукового пізнання феномену церковного художнього дерева. Ключовим теоретичним інструментарієм дослідження залишається метод, підхід й принцип. Подається спроба їх універсального визначення, де б не було підміни одного значення іншим. В окремих прикладах розглядається функціональна проекція методологічного інструментарію на вивчення дерев’яного обладнання українських церков.

The answers to the questions on the basic concepts necessary for the scientific cognition of the phenomenon of the church artistic wood are presented. The key theoretical toolkit for research is the method, approach and principle. An attempt is made to determine their universal definition, where there is no possibility of substitution of one value for another. In some examples, a functional projection of methodological tools for studying the wooden equipment of Ukrainian churches is considered.
