Розглянуто розвиток дерев’яного облаштування українських церков, традиції виготовлення й розміщення якого частково походять ще від святинь дохристиянських релігій Середземноморського ареалу, з одного боку, та, ймовірно, усталених конструктивних і тектонічних ознак обладнання капищ східнослов’янського політеїзму — з іншого. Проаналізовано зміну оздоблення в церковному обрядово-ужитковому мистецтві українців впродовж XVI — середини ХХ ст., яке синхронно трансформувалось згідно з еволюційними процесами європейського мистецтва загалом та творчого задуму місцевих майстрів зокрема. Зауважено, що суттєвий вплив на розвиток явища мали соціокультурні, конфесійно-релігійні, політико-ідеологічні та інші чинники.

The development of the wooden arrangement of Ukrainian churches is considered, traditions of production and placement of which, in part, originate from the shrines of the pre-Christian religions of the Mediterranean range, on the one hand, and, probably, established structural and tectonic features of the equipment of the churches of the East Slavic polytheism — on the other. The change of decoration in the church ritual and applied art of Ukrainians during the 16th — the middle of the 20th century was analyzed, which was synchronously transformed according to the evolutionary processes of European art in general and the creative idea of local craftsmen in particular. It was noted that socio-cultural, confessional-religious, political-ideological and other factors had a significant impact on the development of the phenomenon.
